Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach 2011 photos
This past weekend I spent two days at the Toyota Long Beach Grand Prix. Like I mentioned on my earlier post about attending the photo options at the LB Grand Prix, I didn’t pay the $300 for a Super Photo ticket, instead I mingled with the crowd and photographed the event, not the race.
My weekend wasn’t without problems, on the second day I dropped one of my lenses, causing a small plastic spec to appear on the interior of the glass. I didn’t notice it until I was reviewing the images at the end of the night, a slight shadow seemed to appear on a few images. The photos are easily correctable, but the lens will need a trip to the Nikon repair center.
I took over 1000 photos, the event had two indoor expo areas and many outdoor booths lining the racing course. The designated wired fence event area also included the Marina, with restaurants like The Yard House and PF Changs. With thousands of people in attendance, there was always something or someone to photograph. Below are several photos and a video from the Grand Prix event.
This trio on stilts were amusing, especially when they neared a crowd, I was convinced they were going to fall. I had my camera ready to capture the slow collapse. It never happened.
